Ooma has announced the addition of online fax to Ooma Office. The smart home and business communication systems provider has also added call log enhancements to this solution, which is specifically designed for small businesses.

There are several cloud-based small business phone services available in the market but Ooma believes it has a competitive edge due to its retail expansion. Previously, Ooma Office was available at Staples, Staples.com and via the Ooma website, but it can now also be purchased at Costco.com, Amazon and Best Buy (News - Alert).com.

Ooma aims to streamline fax handling for small businesses by bundling an online fax feature into Ooma Office. Users can leverage the call log feature to review calling activity for hourly billing of professional service fees. This feature also enables users to keep a log of their faxes and review the information whenever they want to.

Ooma is available for less than $50 per month for a small business with three employee extensions and a fax line.

"Ooma Office enables small businesses to work and sound like big businesses thanks to advanced features such as a virtual receptionist, conferencing, on-hold music, virtual extensions, and now call logs and an online fax feature," said Eric Stang, chief executive officer, Ooma, Inc.

Users of Ooma will find its business phone service more affordable from next month onwards as this offering will soon be available to users at $9.99/month per user and $9.99/month per phone number. 

 “In 2014, Ooma will continue to innovate on its business phone system, unveiling a series of new features to help small businesses be even more productive,” added Stang.

Ooma provides free and low-cost U.S. and Canadian telephone calling and advanced cloud-based telephony services to its global base of customers. The company was in news earlier this year when its 911 Alerts feature received patent approval from the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
