XMediusFAX Now Easily Available to Broadsoft Customers with BroadWorks Interoperability

By Rory Lidstone, TMCnet Contributing Writer

Sagemcom (News - Alert) is a company that bucks the trend in the IP fax space by focusing on vertical integration, rather than leveraging third-party solutions like most of its competitors. In order to accomplish this, the company tends to focus on interoperability and certification.

For example, Sagemcom recently had its XMediusFAX 7.0 solution validated as interoperable with the BroadWorks Release 19 SIP interface from Broadsoft. Put simply, this means that Broadsoft customers can now easily add fax to their service offering without the need for a hardware investment.

Aside from easy access to fax over IP (FoIP), BroadWorks users will also be able to leverage a virtualized environment that enables sending and receiving faxes from remote locations.

BroadWorks is a VoIP communications application server that enables service providers to offer a complete portfolio of value-added business and consumer communication applications from a unique network platform that features application, network, media, Web, profile, call detail and access mediation servers. This offering is able to deliver communications solutions that integrate video, fax, voice and e-mail through IP PBX (News - Alert)/Centrex, mobile PBX, business line, trunking and consumer solutions.

XMediusFAX 7.0, meanwhile, allows businesses to leverage IP network and IP telephony for simple and secure document transmission — all from directly within Microsoft (News - Alert) Office products, as well as ERP (enterprise resource planning) and CRM (customer relationship management) applications. By integrating various methods of communication, XMediusFAX allows for improved productivity and reduced costs.

Earlier this year, Sagemcom took XMediusFAX to the cloud with the release of the aptly named XMediusFAX Cloud.

"Thanks to our new collaboration with BroadSoft (News - Alert), our partners can produce a new stream of revenue while increasing their level of customer satisfaction and retention by simply including Fax to complete their portfolio of VoIP communication services offering," said Jean Champagne (News - Alert), general manager of Sagemcom Canada, in a statement.
