Gentek will distribute Digium's Asterisk telephony, Switchvox Unified Communications (News - Alert) (UC) solutions and Digium IP phones to Canadian customers.

Toronto, Canada based Gentek is a distributor of Broadband, Network and VoIP products and solutions. As per the contract, the company will be responsible for distributing full range of Switchvox UC and Asterisk VoIP products from Digium (News - Alert).

These products include IP phones and gateways, redundancy appliances and telephony cards certified for Asterisk installations.

Digium claims these products ensure greater reliability and interoperability for Asterisk (News - Alert) custom communications. Partners can leverage Digium products to design their own end-to-end VoIP solutions or implement turnkey, UC solutions.

Digium's award-winning Switchvox solution is a UC phone system especially designed for SMBs and has the ability to effectively integrate phone, fax, chat, Web mashups and mobile communications.

Based on the power of open source Asterisk, Switchvox solution is claimed to offer a better business phone system as compared to a proprietary system and is available at a very affordable price.
