Faster and easier access to lab reports can expedite treatment decisions. In order to leverage these advancements in the latest faxing technology, Plus Diagnostics has reportedly implemented Biscom Digital Fax--a software solution that would allow the pathology service provider to send and receive high resolution color images and documents over the Internet.

According to Biscom its Digital Fax solution is a high speed, securely encrypted, patent-pending software solution for delivering higher resolution lab results immediately. The solution is aimed at driving faster patient care and treatment decisions, and improved physician satisfaction. Furthermore, the offering helps the user to reduce costs significantly, and can transmit high resolution diagnostic color images and documents such as lab test results and medical/dental radiographs via the Internet.

PLUS Diagnostics, a national provider of comprehensive and dynamic anatomic pathology services, has centers in New Jersey, California and Texas. It serves thousands of physicians including urologists, oncologists, dermatologists, and gastroenterologists and evaluates tens of thousands of samples monthly.

PLUS was not satisfied with the existing faxing system and sought to replace it with a new system that would provide quick, clear and concise reporting. Biscom's Digital Fax, which seamlessly integrates with the company’s laboratory infrastructure, was identified as the ideal choice.

The implementation has resulted in the savings of thousands of dollars per month for PLUS. Before deploying Biscom's Digital Fax, the diagnostic center used to fax results to physician practices the traditional way and then shipped the originals via FedEx overnight delivery, costing over $5.00 per report. The implementation of the Biscom application eliminated overnight shipping costs and reduced phone line charges, giving the company huge per-month savings.

The solution is also HIPAA compliant and secures and patient privacy with automatic 256-bit encryption. Biscom's Digital Fax software can run on a virtualized fax server to reduce hardware and maintenance costs, and is integrated with Biscom's on-premises FAXCOM servers, Biscom's FAXCOM Anywhere hosted fax service, and Biscom's Hybrid Fax Platform for automatic business continuity and disaster recovery.
