Star2Star Communications Unveils Cloud-Based Fax Service

By Rajani Baburajan, TMCnet Contributor

Business communications solutions provider, Star2Star Communications (News - Alert), announced the availability of a new cloud-based fax service.

Dubbed StarFax Personal, the new cloud fax service offers reliable and high-quality desktop faxing to any Star2Star system. Users can send virtually any type of printable file (.doc, pdf, jpg, etc.) directly from the StarFax Personal software.

StarFax Personal is an add-on feature of StarFax which operates within the Revolutionary Next Generation Application Framework as StarScope 2. StarScope 2, StarFax Personal and several future Star2Star applications all run on the Star2Star Application Framework.

The cloud fax service also allows laptop users to send and receive faxes anywhere there's an Internet connection. There is no need of physical fax machine or other hardware.

When using StarFax Personal, a user is assigned a unique, personal fax number for incoming faxes. When a fax is sent to that number, the fax is received by the Star2Star system and stored "in the cloud" at a Star2Star data center.

The system stores incoming faxes as PDF files. The fax can be viewed using a PDF viewer. Incoming faxes pass through an Optical Character Recognition (OCR) program, so all received faxes are fully searchable.

StarFax Personal users can send virtually any type of printable file (.doc, pdf, jpg, etc.) directly from the StarFax Personal software. Laptop users can send and receive faxes anywhere there's an Internet connection.

StarFax Personal is priced at $4.95 per month. The price includes 100 pages of fax. Additional pages are $.05 per page.

In another recent development, Star2Star Communications announced the availability of three new StarBox Internet Communications Appliances, a new call recording feature, and a new call recording archive service.

The new StarBox models are the StarBox 2250, StarBox 2250CR and the StarBox 5500CR. The StarBox 2250 replaces the previous model StarBox 2200, now discontinued.

Company officials say the StarBox 2250CR adds call recording capabilities to the StarBox 2250. It can hold approximately 2,500 hours of call recordings on a built-in SSD drive. Similarly, the StarBox 5500CR adds approximately 5,000 hours of call recording to its flagship StarBox 5500.
