By Tammy Wolf, TMCnet Web Editor

IP fax company Sagemcom has been quite busy lately, tackling the social media space with its new Facebook page, and, of course, augmenting its expansive IP fax portfolio. Now, the leader in communication terminals and digital set-top boxes has joined with France Telecom (News - Alert) group company Viaccess to bring to the European market an innovative, 3D satellite recorder with Blu-ray player.

According to a press release, this satellite HD recorder will embed conditional access to secure broadcast content from Viaccess, a company renowned for its conditional access and DRM systems.

Sagemcom’s BPRSI88-250 HD twin-tuner high-def satellite recorder comes with a 250 GB hard disk, USB port and SD card reader, all of which will be able to play most audio, video and photo formats. In addition, the recorder’s Ethernet port will give users access to over-the-top services, including Catch-Up TV and Video On Demand.

Viaccess’ advanced content security solutions, both CA (News - Alert) and DRM, have been integrated into this satellite receiver to ensure best-of-breed hybrid services, a testament to Sagemcom’s commitment to sustainable development through the lifecycle of its products.

France-based Sagemcom, a company focused on broadband markets as well as the management of documents through its printing solutions and digital production workflow, will be displaying the product Sept. 8 to 13, at IBC in Amsterdam, booth 1.F40.

In other Sagemcom news, the company recently announced its XMediusFAX and OpenLine PR Server fax server technology will now integrate with the imageFORMULA network scanners offered by digital imaging giant Canon (News - Alert) U.S.A, Inc. The Canon imageFORMULA ScanFront 300P Network Scanner enables users to digitize and queue up documents to send via an XMediusFAX (software-only) or OpenLine PR Server (appliance) solution.Sagemcom has done well to extend its IP fax integration even further. The company’s software for the XMediusFAX Fax over IP (FoIP) in releases 6.5 and up, have successfully completed interoperability testing with Cisco (News - Alert) Unified Communication Manager (CUCM) 8.5 and Cisco’s Unity Connection 8.5 voice messaging and UM solution.
