Sagemcom Integration with Canon Technology Offers Optimal IP Fax Solutions

By Tracey E. Schelmetic, TMCnet Contributor

Most organizations today are tasked with protecting and tracking sensitive data, both by regulatory compliance mandates and internal corporate policies. But it's not uncommon for a company to focus a lot of effort on security in one area – company e-mail, for example – while entirely failing to sufficiently securing another area. IP Fax  is one of those areas many companies fall down on when it comes to security.

As a way of remedying this, Sagemcom, a provider of advanced IP fax server solutions, has announced that its XMediusFAX and OpenLine PR Server fax server technology now integrates with the imageFORMULA network scanners provided by digital imaging giant Canon (News - Alert) U.S.A, Inc. By Combining Canon’s imageFORMULA ScanFront 300P Network Scanner with one of Sagemcom’s IP fax server solutions, companies of all sizes are better positioned to make sure their organization is truly secure. Additional benefits include reduced operating costs, as well as an increase in employee productivity.

With the Canon imageFORMULA ScanFront 300P Network Scanner, users can digitize and queue up documents for sending via an XMediusFAX (software-only) or OpenLine PR Server (appliance) solution. With advanced features such as fingerprint authentication, single pass duplex, blank page dropout, and ultrasonic double-feed detection, the Canon imageFORMULA ScanFront 300P Network Scanner offers a secure, efficient and cost-effective on-ramp for paper-based faxes. Businesses are already considering this unique combination of technologies to replace all their legacy fax machines, as well as fax kits that have been added into MFPs (print/scan/fax all-in one units).

Other benefits of the combined Canon/Sagemcom solution include:

·         Cost-reduction by eliminating specialized fax lines, hardware, paper, toners and maintenance fees;

·         Fax accessibility for remote employees;

·         Automated fax processes and managed workflows;

·         Business continuity through high availability and disaster recovery;

·         Integration with VoIP (Cisco, Avaya, Microsoft (News - Alert), Alcatel-Lucent, AudioCodes) or analog/digital PBX environments for increased ROI;

·         An audit trail of all faxes to help facilitate regulatory compliance (i.e. HIPAA, Sarbanes-Oxley) and ensure no misplaced or lost documents; and

·         Secure fax document delivery to authenticated recipient email inbox, FTP, USB and shared folder.

“The IP fax market will continue to grow steadily by 26.1 percent compound annual growth rate according to Davidson Consulting’s latest FoIP industry research,” said Jean Champagne (News - Alert), general manager of Sagemcom Canada Inc. “This growth is largely spurred by demands to provide over 100 million multifunction printers (MFPs) and fax machines worldwide with centralized IP-based fax servers to help satisfy regulatory compliance. Sagemcom plays an active role responding to this market demand by offering twin solutions such as the Canon imageFORMULA ScanFront 300P combined with a Sagemcom XMediusFAX fax server.”
