Sagemcom: Leveraging Fax Technology in an All-IP World
By Susan J. Campbell, TMCnet Contributing Editor
Believe it or not, the fax market is booming. That same technology that demanded you feed the paper along the rollers and dialed a phone number so the person on the other end would receive a “picture” of the document is still very much a part of the office environment today. The only difference is that many companies are moving away from the standalone, analog fax to a networked solution that integrates into their all-IP environment.
In a recent video interview at Interop in New York City, TMC CEO Rich Tehrani (News - Alert) spoke with John Nikolopoulos, director of marketing for Sagemcom. When asked how Sagemcom plays in the fax market, Nikolopoulos noted that this market continues to be one of those interesting mysteries in the marketplace. To elaborate, Nikolopoulos highlighted that people don’t realize the scale of the market for fax. It truly represents a multi-billion dollar opportunity. Generally, everyone is busy running on the next greatest thing and missing out on the happenings in fax technology.
For Sagemcom, the focusing is on getting partners to recognize on the potential of fax.As Sagemcom is dedicated to providing fax over IP and IP fax solutions, the company recognizes the scale of the market is huge. Thanks to the growth of of TDM to IP migration, there is major churn with fax technology as FoIP is being embedded into a lot of environments to deliver the streamlined faxing experience companies want.
With the technology available from Sagemcom today, company employees no longer have to physically walk to a separate fax machine to send off documents. Instead, they have the opportunity to work with documents at their desk, manipulate the document as necessary and send it through the network. The document can still be received on a standard fax line and a copy is saved for archival purposes.
Sagemcom has taken the necessary fax technology and made it work in the all-IP world. The company’s innovations are so exciting; they have even been referred to as, “Sexy Cool.”
In another recent Sagemcom video, Sebastien Boire-Lavigne, director of technology and development for the company, has some fun with Sagemcom’s latest innovations. In fact, he refers to the company’s Fax Server PYTHON SCRIPTING as being “sexy cool.” While you may have never imagined you would hear these words combined with fax technology; if you take a closer look you will understand the approach and what online faxing or FoIP can do for your environment. Sagemcom truly brings value to the enterprise network with its fax over IP solutions.
