M2M lets computers and other machines communicate between one another without any need for human input – that sounds like either a great way to make business processes easier, or the start of the secret meetings that will spark the machine uprising. Still, as machines still lack artificial intelligence, we probably don’t have to worry about the latter, but we do need to worry about any problems that may affect M2M, and address them before deployment begins.
It can be difficult to test M2M solutions, as there are always unexpected obstacles that can get in the way of proper deployment. This includes roaming constraints, GSM 3G coverage, service restrictions, and probably future issues we haven’t discovered yet. As such, M2M platform validation is vital before any deployment, so as to ensure there are no catastrophic issues once it’s launched.
That brings us to SIM management, and its uses in M2M platform validation. There are many tools that can be used for that, such as the IRON Suite solution from iQsim. This suite allows SIM cards to be deployed across long distances through an IP connection, which are stored in SIM Racks and managed properly to ensure proper allocation to far away devices.
There are some key factors to the IRON Suite that allow it to provide SIM Management as it does. Aside from the aforementioned SIM Rack, it contains SIM Boards that can each host 32 cards, allowing for scalability as the company requires. Compatibility is rarely an issue, as a SIM Flex creates an interface through which nearly any device becomes compatible with IRON, and makes it fully compliant with Windows and Linux for complete integration.
Of course, it’s also useful for test scenarios, which can be hosted in the central server and on-site gateway. Rather than try to meet any specific standards, the tests are designed to the application’s needs and goals, ensuring that it will do as it’s supposed to properly.
M2M can provide greater ease of work for businesses and employees through smooth, intelligent communication between devices, but if it goes wrong, all the time and hassle it saved will come crashing back with a vengeance. That’s why it’s so important to make sure M2M solutions work properly before deployment, which the virtual SIM technology from iQsim’s IRON Suite solution can handle. There is no cure-all for any issues that M2M applications may encounter, but it’s best to find any fix any issues before the deployment is complete, so that the computers are communicating with each other, rather then flashing error messages at you.
