Epygi Expands Footprint in IP PBX Market

By Erik Linask, Group Managing Editor

In what can be described as at best a challenging economic climate for many businesses, and a full-out crisis for others, the emphasis on cost savings and business efficiency is as great as it has ever been. However, it is also a critical time for those same businesses in terms of their communications capabilities, as they can ill afford to sacrifice either internal or client-side communications.

The challenge, however, is that the decision often comes down to pure economics, and many businesses simply feel they cannot afford to invest in new equipment, regardless of the potential benefits.

For equipment vendors and their distribution channels, alike, this presents an obvious difficulty — how to ensure they are able to maintain sales volumes, even in a down environment. One way — though it may seem simple — is to expand sales channels (vendors) or product lines (distributors).

That’s what Epygi Technologies has done, adding distributor Novus to help bring Epygi’s (News - Alert) line of IP PBXs, gateways, and conference servers to market, leveraging a network of resellers already servicing the vast SMB segment. Novus is no stranger to the world of VoIP, already working with solutions from Nortel (News - Alert), NEC, snom, Allworx, and others. While Epygi will have some competition here, it also will be in the capable hands of a distributor that knows the market, and which solutions are a good fit for which customers. Of course, one of the most important aspects of customer service is ensuring customers buy what is best able to meet their needs.

“Epygi recognizes Novus as a distributor of the highest quality products, offering its customers the most technologically advanced VoIP solutions,” said Epygi's CEO Mario Cuello.  “It has established a strong reputation as a distributor of quality networking and communications products.”

The deal is designed to grow Epygi’s presence in the North American market, where VoIP sales are quickly outpacing new PSTN lines, and where businesses are quickly learning that they can cut their telephony costs by investing in new communications systems — even in this economy. It comes down to showing a return, which is where the reseller and distributor come in. It is up to them to ensure the right solutions are being sold to the right businesses.

With Epygi, Novus and its reseller network get a reliable, feature rich IP PBX (News - Alert) for the SMB market — from 2-person home offices to 60-plus seat distributed businesses. The Quadro IP PBX is designed to fit both budgetary requirements as well as functionality needs, allowing small businesses to appear larger and more professional than ever.

The Quadro gateway converts PSTN voice transmissions to IP packets for delivery across the Internet — and for incoming packets, converts them to analog voice signals. In addition to its gateway functionality, the Quadro also provides built-in auto-configuration, firewall features, call quality enhancement capabilities, and secure VPN support, as well as several PBX-like functions, including auto-attendant, voice mail, and call statistics. These added features are beneficial for multi-location deployments, where branch offices need to be integrated into IP PBX networks, or for enabling VoIP features through a legacy PBX.

Finally, the Quadro Conference Service is a SIP-based device that provides conferencing capabilities for as many as 30 users in multiple concurrent calls.

In all the Epygi product line provides all the functionality required for business success in today’s enhanced communications environment. Epygi, while perhaps not offering the cheapest product set on the market, does stand behind its products firmly, claiming that it’s IP PBXs and gateways are second to none for the SMB market.

“The Epygi product line complements our best-of-breed offerings and will provide our resellers the ability to meet the demands of an evolving industry,” said Chris Meehan, Managing Director for Novus.  “Their technology is feature-rich and proven.”
