SD-WAN is a space of action. From mergers and acquisitions, MSPs and innovation, this arena is reaching maturity. As the edge continues to evolve and the cloud war rages on, the competition is fierce, so for an MSP like Verizon (News - Alert), bolstering the portfolio is arguably the best thing it can do.

Verizon announced the addition of the Silver Peak Unity EdgeConnect edge platform to its arsenal of SD-WAN solutions. The recently acquired property of Aruba, a Hewlett Packard Enterprise company, is an instant value-add to the Verizon portfolio.

The Silver Peak Unity EdgeConnect appliances and SaaS (News - Alert)-based controllers are now integrated with Verizon’s advanced cloud control, centrally orchestrated and turnkey automated service assurance and management. Verizon can also provide additional functionality like WAN Optimization, wireless connectivity or security.

“There’s a transformative shift in the way that enterprises are looking to manage their WAN edge architecture, particularly in the context of today’s business climate. Legacy networks simply can’t keep up with the requirements of today’s cloud-first enterprises and the addition of the Silver Peak (News - Alert) EdgeConnect platform to Verizon’s SD WAN portfolio is yet another achievement in driving value to businesses looking for rapid deployment of SD WAN and WAN Optimization experiences,” said Aamir Hussain, senior vice president of business products at Verizon Business (News - Alert).

Silver Peak can boast being named to Gartner’s Magic Quadrant for WAN Edge Infrastructure for three years straight, and now Verizon can tout a formidable managed services networking portfolio. Yes, Verizon. We can hear you now.

What’s in your WAN?
