MegaPath (News - Alert) today announced new security capabilities for its Managed SD-WAN service. The company’s SD-WAN Enterprise offering is now integrated with Fortinet’s (News - Alert) cyber security solution.

“Organizations are increasingly adopting SD-WAN technology to keep up with shifts in enterprise traffic usage towards the cloud, but integrating secure SD-WAN can be a challenge for highly distributed enterprises and branch offices,” said John Maddison, senior vice president of products and solutions at Fortinet. This integration addresses that challenge, he added.

The Advanced Security service is available with MegaPath’s SD-WAN Enterprise service, including MegaPath RED. That’s its premium SD-WAN package for businesses in need of 100 percent uptime and financial guarantees related to that level of availability.

The company also sells a service called SD-WAN Pro. It provides other network and security capabilities at lower price points.

“Ensuring the security of sensitive data is a serious concern for businesses of all sizes,” said Dan Foster (News - Alert), COO and President, MegaPath. “Today’s release furthers MegaPath’s strategy to deliver solutions that bridge our network expertise with access to the industry’s best technologies, in order to help our customers manage and protect their networks with unprecedented flexibility and ease.”

MegaPath is a sponsor of the upcoming SD-WAN Expo event. That will take place Feb. 14 through 16 in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.

Futuriom Research expects growth in SD-WAN technology tools and network service revenues to approach $1 billion in 2019 and grow to $1.6 billion by 2021.

“This new category of technology tools and services is expected to dominate growth in the market for enterprise communications services over the next decade,” Futuriom says. “With SD-WAN, complexities in buying network services, such as configuring branch-office devices, routing schemes, and network addresses, is abstracted by software into the cloud and managed by the service provider, rather than the enterprise. In addition, service providers can bundle network management with connectivity, providing many opportunities in value-added services.”
