Enterprises are deploying SD-WAN in greater numbers because delivers improved performance across the IT spectrum. Organizations are experiencing better application performance, improved access to cloud services, a more robust network security and lower operational costs. The release of CA (News - Alert) Performance Management by CA Technologies is further enhancing the capabilities of SD-WAN by using advanced analytics for optimal cloud workloads with monitoring support.

Software-defined wide area network (SD-WAN) is allowing organizations to have direct access to the public cloud from remote sites while supporting the consolidation of infrastructure using network functions virtualization (NFV). According to Enterprise Management Associates (EMA (News - Alert)), this has made SD-WAN the hottest software-defined networking (SDN) technology today. The result, according to EMA, is 88 percent of distributed enterprises have said they either have deployed SD-WAN or are planning to do so within the next 12 months.

"With the integration of fault, device, flow, and packet analysis, CA Technologies (News - Alert) delivers a comprehensive approach to unified monitoring and analytics of SD-WAN and legacy WAN technologies," said Shamus McGillicuddy, senior analyst, Enterprise Management Associates (EMA).

The CA Performance Management is a platform designed with highly scalable and comprehensive network performance functionalities to address the needs of big data and modern networks

architectures, such as highly dynamic and complex hybrid cloud and software-defined networks (SDN). According to CA, the company's goal was to reduce the complexities in the marketplace that currently exist in modern networks built across numerous technology stacks.

Using its advanced network performance monitoring and relationship mapping, CA Performance Management, along with CA Virtual Network Assurance gives operators the visibility they need through advanced discovery and network performance monitoring of highly sensitive cloud and multi-layered SDN networks and service chains to deliver operational assurance.

The monitoring platform has a single dashboard that gives operators a transparent view of traditional, SDN, NFV, SDDC, SD-WAN and cloud networks. This includes the scalability to address big-data architecture with four million items at 500,000 metrics per second, so modern network architectures with growing monitoring needs can have a reliable solution. According to CA Technologies, it is capable of unified network performance monitoring for any size network.

The new CA Performance Management also includes monitoring support for dynamic SD-WAN architectures built on Cisco (News - Alert) IWAN and Viptela. "By partnering with leading SD-WAN vendors such as Cisco, CloudGenix, Versa and Viptela, we are advancing our modern network monitoring solutions and using analytics to provide reliable and incredible network insights for application experiences," said Ali Siddiqui, general manager, Agile (News - Alert) Operations, CA Technologies.
