For those living in caves, the cloud era is upon us. As a development, cloud computing is playing a key role in the current digital transformation at hand. Front and center is the network, with the proliferation of transformation software steering the ship, most notably SD-WAN. A market poised for explosive growth just gained another player – Huawei.

Huawei (News - Alert) is having a busy week thus far at CeBIT (News - Alert) 2017, with the most recent nugget of news being the announcement of a SD-WAN of its own, which provides an application-aware and on-demand cloud-managed leased line. What this means is enterprises can easily provision services in a rapid manner, enabling the ability to meet growing network requirements with the click of a button.

“To cope with service cloudification and industry digitalization, enterprise leased lines require higher bandwidth, more simplified O&M, and quicker response to service changes. Huawei promotes an SD-WAN Solution to help enterprises build innovative application-aware, cost-effective, easy O&M and on-demand cloud-managed leased line. The solution offers online experience of service subscription, provisioning, O&M, adjustment, and optimization, assisting enterprises in fast service innovations and business success in the cloud era,” said Kevin Hu, President of Switch & Enterprise Gateway Product Line at Huawei.

According to Huawei, the solution supports the gauntlet of customer premises equipment interface types, and works nicely in enterprise access scenarios. In bringing together 3G/LTE (News - Alert), MLPS leased lines, fully using Internet links and xDSL costs are reduced significantly.

A few other benefits include a plug-and-play configuration process – literally minimizing provisioning to days – and the application aware intelligent path control utilizes application-based smart traffic scheduling to promise key applications have the appropriate quality of service.

As industry digs deeper into digital transformation, the software-defined reality continues to carry weight. From supporting your favorite SaaS (News - Alert) app or the video conference scheduled for this afternoon, network performance proves the straw that stirs the drink. The question then is: what kind of WAN are you working with?

If you’d like to learn more about SD-WAN, be sure to check out TMC (News - Alert) and Crossfire Media’s newest conference and expo, Communications 20/20, happening July 18-20 at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas. The event will focus on the next wave of technology and innovations that will transcend the importance of person to person contact, disrupting the future of the entire communications industry. Find out more HERE.
