HD voice service has rapidly been becoming one of the hottest telecommunications products being offered to users around the world, transforming the way they talk to their friends, relatives and business contacts.
Global mobile Suppliers Association (GSA), a worldwide consortium of GSM, 3G/WCDMA-HSPA and LTE (News - Alert) suppliers, has release two documents confirming the growing adoption of HD voice services, as mobile network operators and handset manufacturers across the globe have been showing considerable interest in the technology.
The organization offers insight into studies conducted through its own sources, reports, facts, stats, objective analysis and information to provide a general idea upon market developments, trends, evolution and opportunities that are expected to evolve in near future.
Recently, GSA (News - Alert) issued a research document titled ‘The latest Mobile HD voice: Global Update’ that clearly states 83 mobile operators across 61 nations have begun commercially offering HD voice services to their customers, which is an 84 percent rise in the number of mobile operators providing these services since around a year ago.
“17 countries have 2 or more mobile networks offering HD voice service,” commented Alan Hadden, president at GSA. “Deploying cross-network national interconnectivity for HD voice calling will fuel further growth, as will enabling international roaming HD voice services. The stunning experience of HD voice calling could soon become a mainstream mobile user experience.”
Leveraging Adaptive Multi Rate Wideband or ‘W-AMR’ technology, Mobile HD voice services allow users to enjoy high-quality voice calls within mobile networks that support the services and an enhanced calling experience while making or receiving calls between mobile phones that support the technology.
Among all the 83 mobile networks that provide commercial HD voice service at the moment, 76 networks rely upon 3G/HSPA networks, four use both HSPA and GSM networks, one leverages only GSM networks, and two deploy LTE ‘VoLTE’ networks.
In May 2013, a new report by Douglas Mohney, titled ‘HD Voice 2013: Explosion’ similarly found that the HD voice industry is enjoying tremendous growth, as more and more mobile service providers adopt the technology.
