D2 Technologies (News - Alert), a developer of 4G VoLTE and IMS-based RCS technologies, has announced that its chief operating officer, Doug Makishima, will participate in a panel discussion examining the growth of RCS deployments at the RCS Summit at CTIA 2013. The presentation is being held on Wednesday, May 22, 2013 at the Sands Expo and Convention Center (Titan 2306) in Las Vegas.
The panel discussion, titled “Will RCS Become a Mass Market Service?”, will bring together key industry leaders to “debate the benefits of rich communication as a platform that can enrich the end user experience and create a more competitive marketplace.” Makishima will be joined by Alido Di Giovanni, president and CEO of Summit Tech and Brent Newsome, president and CEO of NewPace Technology Development, Inc.
Doug Makishima has more than 20 years of marketing and engineering experience in the networking, storage and communications industries. He has actively contributed to several IEEE (News - Alert) and ANSI committees focused on networking, communications and storage standards. He holds a B.S.E.E. from the University of California at Santa Barbara, and an M.B.A. from Santa Clara University.
The one day summit, organized by Informa Telecoms & Media (News - Alert), offers mobile carriers a comprehensive look into the current status of the RCS market and its future. The program will address a variety of RCS topics, including WebRTC and HTML5, end user messaging, enhanced web browser services, LTE (News - Alert) Voice, service monetization, handset compatibility, carrier roles, launching challenges, and future uses.
Other summit highlights include keynote presentations from Solyman Ashrafi, VP of product management at MetroPCS, Ian Maclean, VP of strategy & marketing at Mavenir, and Bryan Hertz, chairman, CEO & co-founder of Telcentris (News - Alert).
