As the use of smartphones and handheld devices increases all over the world, data transfer and demand for wireless bandwidth has been growing exponentially. If traditional networks cannot cope with this huge demand for data, they offload some of their demand load to Wi-Fi networks. But this Wi-Fi offloading requires expert help.
Accuris Networks (News - Alert) is a company that provides Wi-Fi offloading services along with roaming services. Recently, the company announced that its AccuROAM is the only solution that helps users of smartphone laptop to connect to Wi-Fi hotspots with the help of SIM-based account credentials. This facility can be accessed when the users are roaming internationally.
With the help of Accuris Networks’ AccuROAM solution, service providers will now have the ability to automatically authenticate users in Wi-Fi networks.
The carrier-grade Wi-Fi offloading solution from Accuris Networks helps companies in authenticating the data while offloading on a Wi-Fi network. The features provided include billing and settlement functions and pre-integrated wisp/aggregator partnerships.
“The AccuROAM platform gives subscribers automatic and secure access to Wi-Fi hotspots globally by using subscriber SIM credentials as the means of authentication. Accuris Networks is the only provider globally to provide this level of security and ease of access when connecting to Wi-Fi,” stated Larry Quinn, chairman of Accuris Networks. “While we wait for Hotspot 2.0, Passpoint and Next-Generation Hotspots (NGH) to give us the authentication and security we need, AccuROAM today gives us a seamless, secure Wi-Fi connection.”
In May 2012, the company joined hands with Acme Packet (News - Alert) to introduce a Wi-Fi Mobile Interworking Solution. This new solution will help network operators in improving their network capacity and make their networks compatible to Wi-Fi. According to the company, this solution also improves the network security and allows companies to offer value-added services (VAS) on a Wi-Fi network.
