D2 Technologies is a provider of in embedded IP communications software platforms. The company is known for VoIP and converged IP communications software solutions for devices used in 4G and next-generation networks that deliver advanced communication services, such as VoIP over LTE (VoLTE) and IMS-based Rich Communications (RCS) video calling.

Doug Makishima (News - Alert), chief operating officer of D2 Technologies, represented the company at the WebRTC Conference and Expo, held Nov. 27-29, 2012 at the South San Francisco Conference Center.
Makishima spoke with other key industry leaders in a debate on the future of WebRTC, an open-source industry initiative supported by Google (News - Alert) to enable Real-Time Communications via a Web browser.
Chris Vitek, president of Enterprise Telemetry, moderated the panel, "Separating Hype from Reality - The Impact of WebRTC on Telecom and Enterprise Ecosystems Within the Next Two Years," where Makishima was joined by executives representing Cisco (News - Alert), Hookflash and Disruptive Analysis.
The WebRTC Conference and Expo attendees include architects, enablers and users of Web Real-Time Communication. The conference covered the latest developments regarding emerging current Web conferencing technology and how WebRTC will play into it.
Google has been an early champion of WebRTC by offering key components of the open-source technology. Google has recently added it to the beta version of its Chrome Web browser. The company believes the addition of VoIP and Video-over-IP to Web browsers is the next big development in telecommunications.
