Bridge Technologies Launches TV Quality Monitoring Solution

By Chris Freeburn, TMCnet Web Editor

In this era of high-definition television service, people expect to see crisp, clean, vibrant images on their enormous flat screens. And they won’t be happy with anything less especially since today’s pixel-dense displays will magnify any flaw or distortion in the image. Customers who pay for multiple devices and scores of high-definition channels from IPTV (News - Alert), over the top (OTT) and TV Everywhere service providers are apt to rain their discontent freely on those service providers if the quality of the image on their screens isn’t as good as it should be.

In order to assist service providers with keeping their customers happy, Bridge Technologies (News - Alert) has introduced its microAnalytics System, a quality monitoring tool that will help IPTV, OTT and TV Everywhere service providers deliver video content to multiple devices with image performance rivaling that of their cable TV subscriptions.

The company says the microAnalytics System allows providers to monitor TV service quality across an array of devices including smartphones, table, computers, connected TVs and set-top boxes. The microanalytics System provides insight into real-time service quality data, permitting accurate and comprehensive end-to-end multiscreen/OTT monitoring. Bridge Technologies will demonstrate its quality monitoring solution at the IP&TV World Forum in London, from March 20-22.

"The microAnalytics System is very much a first in the industry, and we've chosen IP&TV World Forum to unveil it," Simen Frostad, chairman of Bridge Technologies, said in a company statement. "Until this launch, there hasn't been a way for multiservice and OTT providers to monitor the quality of service to all their subscribers, whether they are using a fixed device like a connected TV, or an iPhone (News - Alert) or tablet on the move. True end-to-end monitoring in the mobile and OTT markets means the ability to analyze real data--not just simulations--from subscribers' devices, to understand exactly what is happening with the service."

Oslo, Norway-based Bridge Technologies recently announced a partnership with German IPTV service provider, SHM Broadcast. Under the agreement, SHM Broadcast will sell VideoBRIDGE digital media monitoring systems as well as support and consultation services to its customers.“We are very pleased to be adding the VideoBRIDGE product range to our portfolio of class-leading solutions for today’s multiservice broadcasting and content delivery,” said Michael Preisser, managing director, SHM Broadcast, in a statement. “The VideoBRIDGE technology offers extremely advanced monitoring tools for any scenario from satellite to cable to IPTV and OTT delivery, with a true end-to-end capability that ensures the operator has detailed and in-depth data from the entire delivery chain — all the way to the end-user’s viewing device.”
