NewVoiceMedia Secures Another $30 Million in Funding

By Rory Lidstone, Contributing Writer

It’s no secret that trust in the cloud, due in large part to improved cloud security, is at an all-time high. As a result, more businesses are moving away from on-premises solutions to cloud-based equivalents than ever before. It’s only natural, then, that startups that deal in the cloud or, better yet, ways to help businesses move to the cloud are experiencing success.

According to a recent article from Ingrid Lunden over on TechCrunch, one such cloud success story is that of NewVoiceMedia (News - Alert). Based in the UK, NewVoiceMedia develops solutions that help companies run their customer contact centers and sales services in the cloud. The company also recently secured $30 million in a new round of funding.

The funding round featured new investor BGF Ventures, which was joined by existing investors Bessemer Venture Partners (BVP), Eden Ventures, Highland Capital Partners (News - Alert) Europe, Salesforce Ventures and Technology Crossover Ventures (TCV). This investment, which brings NewVoiceMedia’s total funding to date to $141.3 million, will reportedly accelerate the company’s international growth plans, with emphasis on the North American market.

Earlier this month, Interactive Design Institute (IDI) selected NewVoiceMedia’s ContactWorld for Sales cloud-based software to upgrade its outbound calling operations. ContactWorld for Sales enables salespeople to record and manage client relationships in the cloud through a combination of calls, chat and customer relationship management (CRM) tools. The product of a strategic partnership with Salesforce, ContactWorld for Sales integrates with the Salesforce platform.

“This investment is further recognition of our incredible recent growth and financial performance,” said Jonathan Gale, CEO of NewVoiceMedia. “We are delighted to join BGF Ventures' portfolio. The additional capital from Salesforce Ventures reinforces our position within the Salesforce ecosystem and gives us access to the most experienced and innovative cloud executives, ecosystem and customers to ensure we maintain our impressive growth rate.”

While there is some speculation that the cloud investment bubble is ready to burst, Gale is unconcerned. After all, NewVoiceMedia has seen massive success in North America and Asia since expanding to those markets and the company now works with roughly 500 enterprises around the world with an annual revenue run rate of $50 million. In other words, while the current rate of cloud investments may be part of a bubble, a good product will survive regardless of market trends.
