Brace Yourselves: Winter Isn't Over

March is just a few days away, so people in the Northeast are waiting with bated breath for winter to come to an end. With snowstorm after snowstorm hitting the majority of Northeastern cities, the frigid temps and snow piles have wreaked a lot of havoc on power supply.

And it’s not just the Northern folk who are experiencing power failures. Even our Southern neighbors aren’t protected from the elements. Recent news from Alabama tells us that Eastern Shore residents have experienced total outages due to the local utility company’s substations and downed lines. According to sources, “jumpers” burned in two in the Belforest community. Combined with downed lines, it meant many were without power.

Specifically, 18,000 of 44,000 customers were left without power.

While those of us in the northern states have the snow to thank for many of the recent outages, it all highlights one important checklist item: power protection. Because winter isn’t over in the Northeast, then we have to brace ourselves for what’s left ahead until the warmer weather kicks in.

If you’re in business or at home running machines with sensitive or important information on them, like a business or personal computer, then you’ll want to invest in an uninterruptible power supply (UPS) for these instances. This also goes for businesses in areas that may have been hit with severe weather leading to an outage.

Minuteman Power Technologies, a provider of unique and robust power protection solutions, offers an array of products geared toward the educational sector, from outlet surge protectors to UPS.

Using power protection equipment can save residences and businesses thousands in costly damages due to outages as well as keep things running smoothly and efficiently in the event of an interruption or total outage.
