XP Power, a provider of power protection and surge protection devices, recently launched its DSF226 filter and surge protection module specifically designed for use in 28 VDC input defense applications.

The new DSF226 power protection modules comply with the DEF STAN 61-5 issue six load dump requirement. It also meets immunity and emission standards MIL-STD 1275A-D, DEF STAN 59-411 & MIL-STD 461C. Further, the unit allows for the full 200 W output to be supplied over the entire 15 – 33 VDC including accommodating transients down to 10 VDC for up to 1 s. The output tracks the input voltage and is clamped at < 36 VDC.

The filter and surge protection module features an encapsulated metal cased unit capable of delivering up to 200 Watt output and meets the DEF STAN 61-5 part six issue six load dump requirement. The DSF226 can operate from -46 degrees C to + 100 degrees C. A thermal warning output can also be used to control the end-application or disable the filter output.

The filter is ideal for use in combination with XP Power’s MTC family of military-specification DC/DC converters, QSB and ICH series of power bricks, the company said. The DSF226 could be combined with XP Power’s J series of 24V 4:1 input converters for multiple output COTS defense applications as well.

The announcement comes soon after the launch of its GCS150 series of IT and medically approved 150 Watt single output AC-DC power supplies that meet the stringent internationally recognized 80 Plus (News - Alert) Silver energy efficiency specifications.

The GCS150 series has a typical efficiency of 93 percent and a no load input power consumption of less than 0.5 W. The 80 Plus Silver certification applies to power supplies specified for enterprise computing and data centre applications.

The AC-DC power supplies series meets the Class B limits of both EN55011 and EN55022 for conducted and radiated emissions without the need of additional filtering components. The GCS150 series complies with the IT equipment safety specifications of UL/EN/IEC (News - Alert) 60950-1 and the current 3rd edition medical safety standards of EN 60601-1, ANSI/AAMI ES60601-1 and CSA22.22 No 60601-1.
