Given that the United States has experienced 14 tropical storms, eight hurricanes and one major, destructive hurricane – and there is still a lot of time left in the 2012 hurricane season – there may have never been a more opportune time to get power protection technology.

What makes it an even a wiser choice is that Minuteman UPS/Para Systems (News - Alert), a provider of power protection products, is offering rebates on varied items – such as UPSs, surge suppressors and PDUs – now through Sept. 30.

Even more, winter storms follow hurricane season – reinforcing all the more the need for power protection for valued technology.

For instance, one choice is Minuteman’s EnSpire Series UPSs. The compact products are wall-mountable and provide protection for PCs, small phones and DVRs, also offering eight outlets (four battery and four surge-only.) And they provide warranties: three years on parts and labor and two years on the battery.

Another offering is the PRO-LCD Series Line-Interactive UPS. It is a compact tower UPS featuring automatic voltage regulation. Not only does it offer extra battery capacity but has eight outlets (six battery and two surge-only.) The three-year warranty includes non-prorated battery coverage.

Still another possibility for power protection is the Entrust (News - Alert) Series UPS. It is an ultra-slim product with automatic voltage regulation hardware, featuring surge, spike, brownout and blackout protection for PCs, small phones and DVR. Providing eight outlets (four battery/surge, four surge-only), it also provides USB communications for power monitoring and management. And the warranty provides three years for parts and labor, and two years on the battery.

There are also MMS Series surge suppressors. These are ultra-slim profile “S” series wall taps and strips designed for tight spaces. They provide up to 4320J of surge and spike protection. There are rotating outlets on “R” models. A limited lifetime warranty is offered.

The Minuteman line of power protection products comes from Para Systems, a privately-held corporation founded in 1982. Its power products are sold in over 100 countries, the company said, and it prides itself on offering reliable products that lead to uninterruptible power supply (UPS).
