With power outages becoming more frequent and critical tasks being increasingly manned by computers and electronics that require uninterrupted power supplies (UPS), Falcon Electric has taken upon itself the task of adding an extended runtime battery bank option to its popular SSG and SSG-RP UPS products.
The batteries, which have a wide temperature range and provide long back up runtimes, give users the highest level of power protection against a wide spectrum of power problems.
Regarded as true regenerative online UPSs, the SSG online models act as an electronic firewall and provide continuous, clean and highly regulated power, regardless of the nature of the incoming AC power source.
Unlike Falcon's standard 2 U battery pack option, the new pack gives users over 10 times the battery runtime and can operate in extreme temperatures from -30C to 65C.
“The success of our SSG Series wide-temperature UPS line is driving the development of accessories and options that are rugged and can withstand large temperature swings,” said Michael A. Stout, vice president of engineering at Falcon, in a press release.
Eight deep cycle valve regulated lead-acid 40 Amp Hour batteries and two internal one amp chargers make up the SSGB-1S40-5U 40AH battery bank. A compact rack mount enclosure houses the batteries and chargers.
A huge advantage, according to company officials, is that even after the SSG units are installed and in service, it is possible to add more battery banks to provide exceptionally long battery runtimes. The 40 Amp Hour batteries can also be connected to other options for the industrial-grade SSG UPSs.
In other news, Falcon Electric, Inc., announced that its unique UL Listed wide-temperature SVR-PL Series Precision AC Voltage Regulator received an Honorable Mention in Control Engineering magazine's "2012 Engineers' Choice Awards."
