Orbit International, which specializes in the manufacturing of customized electronic components and subsystems for military and nonmilitary government applications, has received a new order valued at $649,000 for commercially off-the-shelf (COTS) power supply.

The power supply, which is used in a United States Naval anti-submarine and anti-ship surveillance and targeting system, was procured by its Power Group, through its Behlman Electronics, Inc. subsidiary ("Behlman”).

Orbit International designs and manufactures combat systems and gun weapons systems. It also provides system integration and integrated logistics support and documentation control at its facilities in Louisville, Kentucky.

The Behlman Electronics subsidiary manufactures and sells high quality commercial power units, AC power sources, frequency converters, uninterruptible power supplies, power protection units, and COTS power solutions. The company has been supplying these power supplies for the past 10 years.

“Behlman's line of multi-output COTS power supplies has been a major reason for our growth in recent years. These products are used in a wide variety of industrial and military applications which have and should continue to provide many years of repeat business,” said Mark Tublisky, president of Behlman, in a statement.

“With a business model that is based on a flexible COTS design platform combined with superior customer service, Behlman has been able to grow its business in both the military and industrial markets," Tublisky added.

The company will begin the delivery of the units by the end of the third quarter of 2012 and continue through the first quarter of 2013.

Orbit International manufactures electronic components and subsystems for military and nonmilitary government applications through its production facilities in Hauppauge, New York, and Quakertown, Pennsylvania.

The company also has facilities in Louisville, Kentucky where it designs and manufactures combat systems and gun weapons systems. It also provides system integration and integrated logistics support and documentation control at these facilities.

"Behlman has continued its momentum in 2012 after a record year of bookings, revenue and backlog in 2011. Bookings in 2011 increased by 35 percent over the prior year and with bookings exceeding $5,300,000 in the fourth quarter of 2011, combined with our strong bookings year-to-date, we are again well positioned for strong operating performance in 2012,” said Mitchell Binder, president and CEO of Orbit, in a statement.

Earlier this year, Orbit International announced two new orders totaling in excess of $626,000. The first award, valued at $394,000, is a follow-on order for a COTS power supply used on the RC-135, a U.S. Air Force (USAF) all-weather airborne reconnaissance aircraft. The second order, valued at $232,000, is for a hot swappable DC power supply used in a nuclear power plant control system.
