Power protection company Minuteman has some news its eager to spread; the PRO-LCD series of uninterruptible power supplies (UPS) just got a whole lot better.

Recently, Minuteman sent out an email blast to customers explaining that the PRO-LCD Series UPS now boasts updated features and longer runtimes, among other things.

“The most prominent new feature on the PRO-LCD Series is the LCD status display, a feature which is quickly becoming standard equipment throughout the industry,” Duston Nixon, marketing communications specialist for Minuteman, told TMCnet. “With this display, users can monitor the status of both their utility input power and the UPS’ output power. This is useful when diagnosing problems, and when used in conjunction with our SentryPlus monitoring and management software, gives users a complete real-time look at their power. The display also tells users the status of the UPS, its batteries, and provides estimated runtime that is available should a blackout occur.”

Since its inception in 1997, the PRO Series of UPSs has been Minuteman’s most popular power protection product. Over the years, Minuteman has taken necessary efforts to ensure that the series stays current and continues to meet the demands of customers.

The first update to the series came with the PRO-E and now the evolution continues with the PRO-LCD, according to Nixon.

The PRO-LCD series now features a line-interactive UPS with Automatic Voltage Regulation (AVR) that provides complete power protection as well as larger battery capacity that allows for longer runtime than competitors.

“The combination of features and price make the PRO-LCD a unique an advantageous option for anyone building a communications or security system,” Nixon said. “PRO-LCD provides longer runtimes than competitive units, offers Automatic Voltage Regulation, an LCD display, and a superior warranty, for less than comparable models on the market. These facts make the series a win-win for SMBs.”

In addition to finding a sweet spot in the SMBs, the PRO Series has long been a favorite in Minuteman’s core businesses – telephone systems, data and networking equipment, and security systems.

“A compact footprint and significant battery capacities make it a popular choice for these systems which are often installed into confined closets and corners,” Nixon said.

For telephone applications, the PRO1500LCD provides an estimated 44 minutes of runtime when supporting a Mitel (News - Alert) SX-200 CX telephone system. In contrast, a comparable APC SC1500 will only provide users with 31 minutes of runtime.

In security applications, where backup power is a must for all DVR systems, a moderately sized PRO700LCD can provide an estimated 66 minutes of backup when connected to a Speco 16-channel DVR with eight cameras. APC’s (News - Alert) comparable SC620 provides a mere 28 minutes by comparison, according to Nixon.

When asked about how the PRO Series stands out amongst the competition, Nixon said one must only look at the Watt rating to get the real story on the unit’s capacity.

“PRO-LCDs offer higher watt ratings thanks to efficient hardware and exceptional battery capacities, meaning that users can expect longer runtimes than competitive units on the same equipment,” he said. “An added benefit is that a smaller unit (for example, a PRO1000LCD vs. a PRO1500LCD) can be used to achieve desired runtimes, allowing administrators to save even more money on initial setup if they choose to.”
