Minuteman UPS/Para Systems’ (News - Alert) power protection family just got a little bigger as the company unveiled today the Minuteman PRO-LCD series, a new line of uninterruptible power supplies (UPS) designed to safeguard medium-sized telephone, security and server systems from power anomalies.

The PRO-LCD is the next generation of Minuteman’s highly successful PRO Series of UPSs.

“The PRO Series of UPSs has been our most popular since its introduction in 1997, and over the years since then we have made efforts to ensure that it stays current with the demands of our customers,” Duston Nixon, marketing communications specialist for power protection provider Minuteman, told TMCnet as to why Minuteman has decided to offer the PRO-LCD series. “This began with the PRO-E, the first update to the series, and now the evolution continues with the PRO-LCD.”

“The new version of the PRO carries on the values we started with the original PRO; outstanding value, exceptional runtimes, and a superior warranty,” he added. “The all-new PRO-LCD offers users an updated LCD status display, along with additional battery backup protected outlets. The unit is also built around larger capacity batteries, and an automatic voltage regulator which provide protection from all power problems, including spikes, surges, and brownouts. The larger batteries give it the capability to support larger loads, or provide longer runtimes on a similar load than competitive models.”

The PRO’s LCD display is equipped to show input and output power status, estimated battery run-time (based on attached load), and operational mode. As an added bonus, Minuteman’s SentryPlus power monitoring and management software is included free with all models, according to company officials.

The new product line includes four all-new models: PRO500LCD (500VA), PRO700LCD (700VA), PRO1100LCD (1100VA) and PRO1500LCD (1500VA).

Small and medium sized businesses in particular will be able to reap benefits from the PRO as it provides “exceptional value while providing the features they demand,” according to Nixon.

“The benefits I mentioned previously all come in at a price that is lower than its predecessor – an excellent value for SMBs looking to protect their telephone, network, or security systems,” he said.

SMBs and other users can also benefit from PRO-LCD’s green features as the voltage regulation circuitry is automatically bypassed until needed, reducing vampire power consumption. By using Minuteman’s SentryPlus software, other power-saving features can be obtained as users can schedule automatic shut down and re-start of equipment during nights and weekends when many devices sit idle yet continue to consume energy resources. The units are also RoHS compliant and Para Systems offers a free battery recycling service for all Minuteman UPSs.

So what makes Minuteman so excited about this announcement?

“We are excited to bring the PRO Series up to date with the added LCD display and additional outlets,” Nixon said. “All the PRO-LCD’s features, combined with a very favorable price point will guarantee it a strong place both in the marketplace and in the minds of our current and prospective users.”

The PRO-LCD Series is currently available for purchase through Minuteman’s extensive distribution network, systems integrators and on-line resellers. For more information, visit www.minutemanups.com/prolcd.
