Minuteman Power Protection Products Boast Green Features

By Susan J. Campbell, TMCnet Contributing Editor

Power protection is an important element for any business as the ability to keep systems running at expected levels is critical for business continuity. A number of sustainable business practices are provided by Minuteman UPS/Para Systems, a leader in power technology products, as the company seeks to provide high quality and environmentally conscious solutions.

Minuteman products incorporate green features that are designed to decrease utility costs and lessen a company’s overall impact on the world as a whole. Ultimately, power protection starts with robust options built to promote sustainability and wise power consumption in all elements of the business.

Automatic shutdown and re-start functions can lend considerable benefit for any organization. These capabilities are extended through Minuteman UPS products, bundled with the SentryPlus management software system. To deliver ultimate power protection, users can easily configure utilities to schedule the shutdown and re-start of connected equipment according to business downtimes.

The Green Mode icon will appear on the new EnSpire EN750 and EN900 when these efficient, low-cost, uninterruptible power supplies (UPS) are operating at peak efficiency. The icon appears on the LCD display to notify users that the device is protecting connected equipment, while drawing very little additional utility power. This form of power protection helps to reduce energy costs and lessens environmental impact.

Load Shedding is another feature employed by Minuteman UPS and RPM devices to deliver power protection. Not all electronic devices need to run during blackouts or non-business hours. Therefore, Load Shedding is offered on Enterprise Plus and Endeavor product lines and allows users to isolate critical electronic devices from non-critical items. Load Shedding allows users to shut down non-critical items to provide extended battery capacity for devices that can never lose power.

Minuteman’s SentryPlus management software can deliver power protection by allowing users to monitor, log and even graph key components to understand how and when power is consumed. The power draw can be modified once it is identified using the software or load shedding features.

Power protection can also be delivered in the power factor correction which uses an active or passive input circuit to change the power factor of the input current to a device. This will reduce the amount of current drawn from a utility and reduce the user’s energy costs.

Minuteman also uses recycled and recyclable materials in its solutions and packaging to ensure its commitment to power protection extends beyond the customer’s environment. Its products also feature Minuteman’s Superior Battery Management and smart charging algorithms to extend the life of your batteries
