PAETEC Holding Corp., a provider of comprehensive suite of IP, voice, data, and Internet services, as well as enterprise communications management software, network security solutions, CPE, and managed services for businesses nationwide, recently announced the opening of its newest data center.

Located in Phoenix, Arizona, this new 4,400 square foot Phoenix data center is designed to serve the businesses in the Southwest. The data center will provide highly secure and scalable Colocation Services with capabilities up to one Gbps, PAETEC (News - Alert) officials revealed. In addition, the collocation services will be supported by a 24x7 Technical Assistance Center (TAC). The center is backed by a 1.4-megawatt backup generator, UPS scalable to 800kva, and an FM-200 fire suppression system. To keep the center at an optimum temperature for customer equipment, 120 tons of circuit cooling capacity is employed, with the ability to increase to 240 tons.

According to Infonetics (News - Alert) Research, data center network equipment has grown by 67 percent in 2010 over the previous year. The Data service technologies that experienced the most consistent growth included Ethernet switches, application delivery controllers (ADCs), and WAN optimization appliances. According to industry estimates, the data center market is poised for growth in 2011 and PAETEC is seemingly trying to grab a giant market share by creating a data center network across the country.

“We've seen the demand for data centers and network-based services increase, and we expect it to continue to pick up momentum over the next decade. This new data center fits our strategy of enabling cloud-based technologies and business continuity options for our customers to safeguard information, decrease management needs, and reduce network latency,”   chairman and CEO of PAETEC Arunas Chesonis (News - Alert), commented in a press release.

A recent Infonetics report shows that an increasing number of companies are looking to outsource data storage. By adopting cloud technology for data storage, the companies can save a lot on their energy bills and according to the report, an increasing number of companies are doing away with on-premise servers to cut back on their energy bills.

According to PAETEC, its data center solutions are hosted in its highly secure central office and colocation sites around the country. With the addition of the Phoenix facility, PAETTEC extends its already long list of existing data centers in Bethlehem and Conshohocken, Pa., Andover, Mass., Houston, and a Milwaukee center. The last was opened in December 2010.

“Our overall strategy on data centers includes two significant drivers. First, we're actively building dedicated infrastructure space based on the rising demands of our customers, and secondly, creating a robust suite of cloud-based products within our data centers designed for CIOs,” John Chapman, chief marketing officer for PAETEC noted in a statement.

The company has plans to open several more throughout the year, the sources at PAETEC revealed.

A few months back, PAETEC Holding announced enhancements to its IP Simple bundle of IP-based services for small and medium-sized businesses with the addition of PAETEC 48x Phone (News - Alert) System.
