Phone Systems: Small Business and Residential VoIP Services Markets Strong
By Stefania Viscusi, Assignment Desk Editor
VoIP phone systems remain an important solution for businesses across the world as they offer increased functionality and cost savings.
A recent report from a Campbell, Calif.-based market research firm notes the strong demand for VoIP services has continued – with service providers earning $21 billion in 1H09.
Infonetics' biannual report, “VoIP and UC Services and Subscribers,” found that both residential and Business VoIP services continue to grow in demand despite the decline in spending for other communications.
According to Diane Myers, directing analyst for service provider VoIP and IMS at Infonetics Research (News - Alert), in the first half of 2009, the worldwide market for VoIP services grew to $20.7 billion while subscribers also climber 14 percent since the end of 2008.
“On the business VoIP side, while managed IP-PBX (News - Alert) revenue growth has slowed in line with IP-PBX shipments, we are expecting IP Centrex and hosted UC service revenue to grow 26 percent year-over-year in 2009,” Myers said.
