The cloud and virtualization are not passing fads; as a matter of fact, they are here for the long haul. As firms continue to move toward digital transformation, these burgeoning areas of development prove indispensible.  Industry events prove exceptional mediums for demonstrating innovation in the space, and as is the case since its inception, VMworld continues to prove to be a bastion of announcements, innovation and excitement.

Among the litany of news coming from the annual event, Pluribus Networks demonstrated its virtualization-centric fabric running on Dell’s (News - Alert) open switches. Building on its virtualization-centric fabric architecture, the Pluribus Open Netvisor Linux (ONVL) 2.4.1 is high performing, and offers a way to ease the cloud migration. The newly released solution provides deep integration with the VMware infrastructure in addition to supporting the fabric’s automation via Puppet and Ansible.

“Pluribus has added direct support for VMware's vSphere, as well as support of Ansible and Puppet automation tools which are so important when our customers are creating their own private clouds. By working with Pluribus, customers can realize the full potential of open networking for modern applications,” explained Dell General Manager and Executive Vice President Tom Burns.

As far as perks to the Pluribus solution go it’s somewhat of a laundry list that includes: Support for VMware Sphere, unified virtual and physical environments, rapid convergence, elimination of vendor lock in, embedded visibility, a distributed control plane as well as simplified operations.

“Dell is considered one of the networking industry's biggest innovators and disruptors through our deep understanding and delivery of innovative solutions that directly address our customer's challenges. Our partnership with Pluribus enables us to better support our clients as they address their IT transformations and build their private clouds,” noted Burns.

Digital transformation is the name of the game today. Future forward firms fixed on forming a next generation network will be ahead of the curve, where those still living in analogue will suffer the consequences of inadequacy.
