SugarCRM Announces Open Source CRM Winter Tour, Appoints VP, Business Development

By Kelly McGuire, TMCnet Editor

When I reported last week that open source customer relationship management, or “CRM,” provider, SugarCRM (News - Alert), planned to have a successful 2010, I wasn’t kidding.

Just three weeks in to the New Year, the company announced its CRM Acceleration Winter Tour Schedule and an appointment of Chuck Coulson, long time industry veteran, to Vice President of Business Development.

Covering six cities on three continents in 50 days, SugarCRM will offer half-day sessions that help businesses development and implement a CRM strategy.

Geoffrey Mobisson, managing director, Levementum, a company that has attended these events, said that the CRM Accelerations provide an opportunity for companies to learn about how to formulate and implement successful CRM strategies and processes.

“These events are terrific organizing events to get business leaders focused on placing customers at the center of every business activity,” Mobisson said.

What’s the best part about these intensive sessions? They’re offered to any registered attendee free of charge.

Beginning in Sydney, Australia, and ending in Atlanta, Georgia, SugarCRM officials and CRM leaders will be presenting in-depth product sessions, real-world demo scenarios, expert panels and customer testimonials.

Geared toward both business and technical, the CRM Acceleration Winter Tour includes the following cities:

·        Sydney, Australia – Tuesday, February 9
·        Melbourne, Australia – Thursday, February 11
·        Mumbai, India – Tuesday, February 16
·        Bangalore, India – Thursday, February 18
·        Boston, Massachusetts – Tuesday, March 23
·        Atlanta, Georgia – date to be determined

In regards to the new Vice President of Business Development appointment of Chuck Coulson, Larry Augustin, SugarCRM’s CEO said that Coulson’s track record with leading enterprise software and software-as-a-service business, the choice was a no brainer.

“This experience, combined with his deep knowledge of how to partner with and enable strategic partners, will allow SugarCRM to continue to build valuable relationships with leading solution providers around the globe,” Augustin added.

With all the news on the horizon, it’s hard not to wonder what’s next for the open source CRM provider.
