Jabra Unveils Convertible Bluetooth Stereo Headset

By Spencer D. Chin, TMCnet Web Editor

Verizon (News - Alert) Wireless and Jabra have announced the Jabra BT8010 convertible Bluetooth stereo headset with a personalized phonebook and caller ID.

The multi-functional Jabra BT8010 will be sold through Verizon Wireless as a standard headset but can be turned into a fully functional Bluetooth stereo headset for listening to music with the addition of a separately purchased stereo earpiece.

"We set out to create a headset that combines high performance mono and stereo headset functionality with the design users have come to expect from Jabra," said David Wood, senior vice president and general manager for GN Netcom / Jabra North American operations, in a statement. "The Jabra BT8010 incorporates the most advanced features available in a headset while also offering a unique set of customizable tools that are easy to use. The seamless functionality of the product makes listening to music and taking calls as simple as can be."

The headset features Bluetooth 2.0 and provides enhanced usability with longer talk time and a clearer signal due to increased bandwidth. It receives and plays Bluetooth stereo music direct from mobile phones or music players that support the Advanced Audio Distribution Profile (A2DP) for advanced stereo and the Audio/Video Remote Control Profile (AVRCP) for remote control from the headset.

Features include auto-pairing for an easy connection to Verizon Wireless phones and a jog wheel for navigation of the headset's menus. A multipoint connection allows simultaneous connection to two devices such as a PC and a phone, or music player and phone. The headset also comes with digital signal processing (DSP) technology for higher audio quality.

The Jabra BT8010 is available on Verizon’s website for $99.99; the stereo earpiece is $29.99. Both will sold in Verizon Wireless Communications Stores starting April 6.
