Market forecasts and analysis, at least in the tech space, tend to focus on more “surface” technologies; tools and services that are more common in business and residential communications. A recent report has given the spotlight to structured cabling systems, of which we have to thank for the transmission of data and telephone services through a computer network.

Transparency Market Research’s Structured Cabling Market - Global Industry Analysis, Size, Share, Growth, Trends and Forecast 2015 - 2023 " breaks down the global market into segments; product type, applications, industry verticals, and geography. According to the report, North America is a “crucial region for the maturity of market because of the shipment of many cable management solutions by the U.S. over the past years.” The Asia-Pacific region shows promise for its need for better infrastructure.

Previous analysis of this market forecasts actual quantifiable numbers that indicate modest growth: BSRIA charted the global structured cabling market through the year 2020, concluding that the total market will exceed $8 billion. The market totaled $6 billion in 2012, BSRIA said, and will chart a course of 4-percent annual growth through 2020. Since the BSRIA report, there has been little to no data on structured cabling systems.

Structured cabling is one of those unspoken necessities that comes with a lot of benefits. It has the ability to carry high bandwidth, which means businesses are investing in a solution that will be able to support emerging applications. It often replaces multiple wiring systems with a single, unified infrastructure that carries data in any format, from voice to video. Structured cabling is also designed to accommodate quickly and cost effectively; it can alleviate workflow disruptions and network downtime associated with enterprise restructuring.

“The growing use of Ethernet networks is one of the major factors which are driving the global structured cabling market. Also, the growing use of cables for wiring of different devices such as IP cameras, baseboard management controller (BMC) and access controls, among others, is adding to the global market growth,” according to the report’s announcement.

Transparency Market Research has named Cabling Solutions, Inc., Datatrend Technologies, Inc., DataCom Sales & Associates, Inc., TE Connectivity (News - Alert) Ltd., CommScope Inc., and Corning Inc. as players in this space.
