Astaro Raises the Network Security Bar with New Products

By Ashok Bindra, TMCnet Contributor

To take consolidation of IT network security to a higher level, unified threat management provider Astaro Corp. has unwrapped three new network security solutions, Astaro (News - Alert) Application Control, Astaro Log Management and Astaro Endpoint Security. Together, these solutions provide network security that extends beyond the perimeter, protects against modern threats and improves administrators’ visibility into network operations, said Astaro.

According to Astaro, network configurations and the threat landscape have become increasingly complex, making it necessary for organizations to consolidate their IT security. Hence, to protect company networks, the company has continued developing more comprehensive network security solutions.

In a statement, Jan Hichert, Astaro CEO, said “Since Astaro was founded over ten years ago, we have designed our solutions with the goal of simplifying IT security. We continually monitor security trends and solicit feedback from our customers so that we can anticipate the future needs of businesses.”

“This feedback from our customers and partners as well as our own research tells us that companies are looking for a more comprehensive approach to IT security. With innovation as the cornerstone of our business and product strategy we are prepared to offer this next generation of unified threat management products,” noted Hichert.

While Astaro Application Control adds next generation firewall capabilities that help IT administrators gain visibility into Internet usage, block unwanted applications like Facebook (News - Alert) or Ultrasurf and prioritize Internet bandwidth usage, Astaro Log Management allows Astaro security gateway users to centrally store and analyze log data from all systems and applications. With its error tracking, policy protection and automatic alerts, it can reduce troubleshooting time by up to 80 percent while helping companies comply with PCI (News - Alert) and other regulations, said Astaro. Likewise, Astaro Endpoint Security adds data leakage prevention that enables usage control of USB ports, DVD drives and other peripheral devices.

Further commenting on these products, Hichert added, “Our success in innovating the concept of unified threat management products directly contributed to our unprecedented success in 2010. We expect 2011 to be another exciting year, both in terms of growth and in technological expansion. Moving forward, Astaro will develop more new products and functions that will help companies protect their networks from the modern threat landscape.”

Last December, Astaro formed a partnership with Celt/Integrity to bring network security to the educational space. The aim here is to block unproductive and dangerous sites while enabling access to educational resources in schools across North America.
