By Anshu Shrivastava, TMCnet Contributor

The Industrial Automation Group of network processor manufacturer Advantech has released its first integrated I/O controller -- the PEC-3710.

This integrated I/O controller features an AMD LX800 500 MHz controller with 16-channel analog input, 4-channel analog output and 32-channel isolated digital input/output.

A standalone automation controller, PEC-3710 “greatly” shortens customers' development time, and offers a rich networking interface for function extensions, said company officials.

The compact size PEC-3710 is an application-ready platform. Company officials said that it has seamlessly integrated most of the I/O functionalities such as analog input/output, digital input/output, and counters.

This newest offering from Advantech (News - Alert) has no internal cabling. Company officials said that it can operate in temperatures of -10 to 60°C (14 to 140°F), which makes it an ideal solution for demanding environments.

Company officials said that it can be useful to fulfill various requests for obtaining/ receiving different data, for example, traffic flow control in an automated highway system, vehicle electronic weighing system, or automatic onboard control system. The PEC-3710 supports Windows XP and WinCE with pre-installed drivers and tools to control all I/O functions, according to company officials.

Advantech is a provider of automation technology; combining connectivity, flexibility and ruggedness with today's most reliable PC-based automation technologies.

Earlier in May, the company introduced an Industrial Monitor, which provides high levels of performance in harsh industrial environments. The compact FPM-3121G and FPM-3151G monitors feature backlit XGA TFT LCD panels, NEMA4/IP65 compliant flat-sealed front panels, direct VGA & DVI-D video inputs, an optional resistive touchscreen, a convenient front-accessible USB port, and a vibrant color scheme.
