New Face Recognition Algorithms to Leverage Intel's 2nd Gen Core Processors

By Nathesh, TMCnet Contributor

Face.com, a technology company that deals in face recognition software, asserted that its new updated face recognition algorithms will utilize the power of Intel’s new second generation Core network processor family to attain higher throughput results in a shorter response time to apps and API calls.

The Advanced Vector Extensions (AVX (News - Alert)) is defined as an extension to the x86 instruction set architecture for microprocessors from Intel. This new feature will be exploited by the new face recognition software, which results in Face.com solutions being able to process more images per minute, reducing costs and response time.

Face.com ascertained that it offers platform for developers and publishers to automatically detect and recognize faces in photos using a robust, free – REST API. This API allows third-party developers to create their own original apps that leverage the company’s face recognition technology, algorithms, and database of tagged faces.

The software is claimed by the company to be highly effective and highly efficient, able to recognize faces with a high degree of accuracy, and process thousands of images in short periods of time.

Officials with Face.com asserted that Intel’s (News - Alert) 2nd generation Intel Core network processor family technology is crucial to their endeavors in delivering the fastest, most efficient processing power to Face.com applications and APIs. Second generation Intel Core network processor family’s micro-architecture is the most advanced network processor on the market. Leveraging this technology is a substantial improvement in their ability to serve users and developers around the world who rely on the company’s ability to deliver fast and efficient face recognition photo processing.

Intel added that helping innovative companies such as Face.com deliver faster processing capabilities to their users is a core part of the company’s mission. Face.com and other companies play a key role in enriching the user experience made possible by running on 2nd generation Intel Core network processor family.
