Cadence Announces Optimized Implementation Methodology for the New ARM Cortex Processor

By Nathesh, TMCnet Contributor

Cadence Design Systems (News - Alert), a dealer in global electronic design innovation, has claimed that they have charted a new optimized implementation methodology for the new ARM (News - Alert) Cortex-A15 MPCore processor using which customers can start designing Cortex-A15 processor-based SoCs immediately.

As ARM developed the Cortex-A15 MPCore processor – it’s most advanced processor for mobile, consumer and infrastructure applications – Cadence worked alongside the microprocessor IP company to develop the methodology for customers seeking early access to this ARM processor technology for Silicon Realization.

The ARM Cortex-A15 MPCore processor is claimed to be the highest-performance licensable processor the industry has ever seen. It delivers unprecedented processing capability, combined with low power consumption to enable compelling products in markets ranging from smartphones, tablets, mobile computing, high-end digital home, servers and wireless infrastructure. The combination of performance, functionality, and power-efficiency provided by the Cortex-A15 MPCore processor reinforces ARM’s clear leadership position in these high-value and high-volume application segments.

The Cortex-A15 MPCore processor is the first ARM processor to incorporate highly efficient hardware support for data management and arbitration, enabling multiple software environments and their applications to simultaneously access the system capabilities. This enables the realization of devices that are robust, with virtual environments that are isolated from each other.

Vice president of marketing at the processor division of ARM, Eric Schorn has stated that their early collaboration with the Cadence team has been instrumental in ensuring the adoption of the ARM Cortex-A15 processor by providing an implementation path to a broader set of ARM Partners.

The Cortex-A15 MPCore implementation methodology is the latest in a series of collaborations between Cadence and ARM aimed at enhancing System, SoC, and Silicon Realization, key pillars of the EDA360 vision. The Cortex-A15 MPCore processor is the next quantum leap for high-performance embedded applications used in demanding consumer and enterprise devices.

The Cortwx-A15 MPCore enables immediate access to an established developer and software ecosystem including Android, Adobe Flash Player, Java Platform Standard Edition (Java SE), JavaFX, Linux, Microsoft (News - Alert) Windows Embedded, Symbian and Ubuntu, along with more than 700 ARM Connected Community members providing applications software, hardware and software development tools, middleware and SoC design services.
