Vineyard Networks, a leading developer and provider of Network Application Intelligence solutions, has recently announced the launch of the Network Application Visibility Layer (NAVL) library version 2.7. The NAVL enables service providers and network infrastructure vendors to add application intelligent classification to their solutions easily and cost effectively. Vineyard Networks has been known for its innovative Application Intelligence technology with solutions such as Application Intelligent Classification and Application Level Network Reporting.
In a release, Jason Richards, CEO of Vineyard Networks said that, "We build best-of-breed technology at Vineyard Networks that allows network infrastructure vendors to easily add application intelligence into their products, and that's evidenced by how quickly we've grown since our company launch in 2008. By being on the cutting edge of this technology ourselves, we're in a prime position to help network infrastructure vendors and service providers lead the way in their individual markets."
Organizations are beginning to recognize increasing application vulnerabilities with mobile devices as a serious security threat. Businesses feel that the traditional approach to application visibility through ports and portals are not safe anymore and are looking for alternate ways to identify application traffic, monitor, manage, secure, and accelerate applications on the network. Network solution vendors and service providers are looking forward to adopt next generation network solutions such as Next Generation Firewall, WAN optimization, network monitoring, and application delivery controllers, that provide visibility, management, and security into the applications on the network, as an answer to their security concerns. NAVL plays a major part in next generation network solutions.
Eric Ogren, principal analyst at the Ogren Group added that, "Organizations require the next generation of networking products to leverage application intelligence for greater visibility and control of the cyber-infrastructure. Security and networking vendors that hope to compete for enterprise business better offer a solid foundation of high performance application awareness and classification."
Some of the key features of the Vineyard Networks' NAVL include, real-time application visibility; easing the next generation transition to application awareness; and a variety of network and security infrastructure solutions. NAVL is a Layer 7 classification and has a deep packet inspection engine to analyse network data in real time and extract application information and data. The NAVL 2.7 release has thousands of application signatures, new custom application definition interface to allow end users to create definitions for in-house or custom apps, and performance to network speeds in excess of 10Gbps easily.
