Lancope, a provider of flow-based network monitoring solutions, asserted that at the HIMSS 2011 conference it demonstrated how NetFlow can be leveraged to increase healthcare network visibility, security, performance, and application delivery. The NetFlow solution is designed to provide end-to-end network visibility and monitoring for healthcare organizations and cost-effectively improve network operations, as well as achieve compliance.
By collecting and analyzing NetFlow from existing routers and switches, Lancope's StealthWatch system delivers comprehensive network visibility across physical and virtual environments, dramatically reducing the time between problem onset and resolution.
Lancope’s StealthWatch Management Console manages, coordinates and configures all StealthWatch appliances to correlate security and network intelligence across the enterprise. By offering real-time insight and monitoring into current network behavior, the system helps increase network and security efficiency and decrease operating costs, while at the same time improving operational awareness and overall security.
Lancope's StealthWatch Xe FlowCollector appliance leverages NetFlow (from Cisco, Juniper) or sFlow (from HP ProCurve, Brocade (News - Alert)) to provide cost-effective, behavior-based network protection for distributed enterprise environments. StealthWatch helps healthcare organizations comply with HIPAA regulations through constant monitoring and advanced features, including application and identity awareness. It has been calculated that healthcare organizations currently comprise 15 percent of Lancope's customer base.
Lancope healthcare customers include BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee, Concord Hospital, Cancer Research U.K., Aurora Health Care, the Puget Sound Blood Center and Children's Hospital and Health System in Wisconsin.
BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee acknowledged that StealthWatch automatically gave it detailed network monitoring and insight through a single, easy-to-use interface, aiding its security, network operations and compliance efforts.
StealthWatch helped Concord Hospital to quickly and cost-effectively troubleshoot even the most complex network and security issues. It enabled the hospital to easily determine whether issues are caused by the network itself or by a specific application, as well as pinpoint exactly which application and user are responsible.
By combining network and security capabilities into a single, unified platform and leveraging an organization's existing infrastructure, StealthWatch can eliminate network blind spots and decreases the time, cost and complexity associated with troubleshooting network problems.
