Network Installation: Telecom Channel Program Gives Agents a Bigger Piece of the Pie

By Erin Harrison, Senior Editor

When Cincinnati-based Contingent Network Services launched its Telecom Channel Program, it set out to give service-oriented agents the opportunity to turn the table and grab a piece of the installation and field repair pie. The program now offers telecom distributers and agents a chance to earn referral-based commissions on the firm’s broad spectrum of system design, network installation, support and break/fix capabilities.

“This is an incredible opportunity for telecom agents to get paid on the installation – and the maintenance and repair, if needed – of everything they sell, by a totally agnostic partner,” explained Russ Maney (News - Alert), principal and co-founder of Xponential Group, a Louisville, Ky.-based technology procurement services company that represents Contingent.

According to Maney, Contingent doesn’t take any commissions from any service or equipment provider, “so any agent can recommend that any client use Contingent for any technology job out in the field and know that Contingent is simply going to perform the requested work in a timely and high quality manner.”

As an agent's “on call” systems integrator will let the agent pick the service and equipment providers, while paying the agent a commission on the associated field services work.

“Contingent can also help agents whose clients' current technology infrastructures might not be up to the challenges posed by the new telecom services, such as VoIP, or any other new, network-based  technologies,” Maney said. “For example, Contingent can do on-site ‘VoIP Readiness Assessments’ and then perform whatever WAN, LAN or other infrastructure work needed to make the client’s sites VoIP-ready.”

And, as Maney explained, VoIP is just the tip of the iceberg. “Contingent also installs point-of-sale systems, premise security equipment, video displays, WiFi (News - Alert), and even rooftop solar panels.  They even pull cable and trench parking lots, if that is what’s needed.  Whether it is a one truck one site job or an LAN/WAN upgrade over thousands of sites, Contingent can handle it.”

The company gives any telecom agent the same capabilities as the most sophisticated systems integrator, VAR, interconnect or other IT consultant, Maney added.

“In fact, Contingent helps any telecom agent leapfrog all but the largest players, thanks to Contingent’s ability to get a technician with the right skills, tools and experience to the right address anywhere in the U.S. in two hours or less, he said. “With Contingent as a partner, a telecom agent no longer gets shut out of business opportunities because of geography or on-site technician requirements.”

Contingent Network Services was recently namedto the 2009 Inc. 5000 List, the firm’s second consecutive year on the list. Inc. describes its list as “the most comprehensive look ever at the entrepreneurial engine driving the U.S. economy.”
