REVE Systems to Target International Long Distance Carriers in South Asia

CEO moderates Panel Discussion on ‘IP Telephony Market in Bangladesh: Challenges and opportunities’ at BASIS Soft Expo’ 2010
 
Singapore-based mobile VoIP provider, REVE Systems, recently took part in BASIS SoftExpo’10 held February 10-14 at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre, in Dhaka. The event is organized by Bangladesh Association of Software & Information Services “BASIS.”

 
This annual event is the largest ICT event of Bangladesh. At the event, which included over 40,000 visitors and delegates from many South Asian countries, REVE Systems exhibited their suite of VoIP products.
 
Commenting from the sidelines of the event, M Rezaul Hassan, CEO at REVE Systems said, “We are excited at the opening up of the IP telephony market in Bangladesh. While we have already given our solutions to few leading ITSP’s who have been issued licenses recently, we are also targeting the International Long Distance Carriers in Bangladesh with our Switch and Billing products.”
 
During the event, Hassan also moderated a panel discussion “IP Telephony Market in Bangladesh: Challenges and opportunities.” Panelists included Member of Parliament and Parliamentary Standing committee member on Telecom, Mr. M.H. Ratan; CEO of Novotel Ltd., a International Gateway (News - Alert) Voice Operator, Mr. Faiz Khan; CEO of Dhakacom Ltd, a leading ISP, Mr. M A Hakim; Professor and VoIP Innovation Lab convener, North South University, Dr. M Rahman and CEO of Asia Tel, a large IT conglomerate, Mr. K S Ahmed.
  
During the panel discussion, issues including the government’s role in the development of VoIP in Bangladesh, technological advances and initiation of avenues for the growth of VoIP in Bangladesh were addressed. The discussion evoked wide participation from the audience, comprising of representatives of the ICT industry of South Asia. There were also many questions addressed towards the government representative, asking for lowering of tariffs and regulatory hindrances in this segment.
