VoIP Solution provider company REVE Systems recently participated in HK Connect 2010, in Hong Kong – a two day event focused on IT and Telecom and providing a convergence platform for companies to invite and interact with the masses.

On the first day of the event, REVE Systems’ director of Global Marketing, Sanjit Chatterjee (News - Alert), presented an interactive session on Mobile VoIP or, “mVoIP” and other emerging technologies in VoIP.

During the session, “Everyone is Going Wireless - VoIP is No Exception,” Chatterjee discussed the difficulties before the mVoIP era and how mobile VoIP has eased people’s lives.

The move from fixed to wireless, the speaker said, was a long transformation that has now profiled people into two segments: mobile VOIP users and regular phone users.

According to Gartner (News - Alert) there will be a significant growth in the number of mobile data users until 2013 when it’s predicted there will be about 300 million mobile VoIP users around the world.

Another research agency, Juniper, has also predicted huge growth in mobile VoIP minute usage. According to their findings, this market will reach above 470 billion by 2015.

“To make a VoIP call from a mobile handset, one needs to have 3 things, a compatible mobile handset, a GPRS, 3G, Wi-Fi or EDGE for data connectivity and a Mobile VoIP application,” Chatterjee said.

“Mobile VoIP enables users to make cheap national and international calls from their mobile phones. Not only smartphones, but now it is possible for consumers to also make VoIP calls using their low-end Symbian (News - Alert) handsets,”  Chatterjee  said. The best advantage of mVoIP however, “is that it involves the lowest expenditure and great value for money.”

REVE Systems provides an ‘a la-carte’ menu of Mobile VoIP & VoIP solutions, Tunneling Products and carrier grade SoftSwitches for small, medium and large service providers.

With offices in- Singapore, Bangladesh, the U.K. and India, the company’s customer base includes 1200 service providers across more than 50 countries.
