Dialogic Expands into Brazil's Emerging Mobile-Video Market
TMCnet Editor
Dialogic (News - Alert) Corporation has announced a new partnership with Brazilian distributor WDC Networks that will pave the way for the country to develop rich mobile-video-laden applications for cell phones by next summer.
Additionally, the partnership will help the company launch educational programs for the country’s system integrators and developers, who might not otherwise be well-acquainted with Dialogic’s product portfolio.
“There is going to be a push for more video, which will drive the cost down,” Giovanni Punzo, Dialogic’s director of sales and services for Central America and Latin America, told TMCnet. “The notion is, ‘right now video is too expensive and there is not enough video applications.’”
The investment came about because Brazil is one of the top emerging markets for mobile value added-service products, Punzo told TMCnet.
Under terms of the partnership, which represents the company’s first big step into the Brazilian marketplace, WDN Networks will sell most lines of Dialogic’s products available in that country, with a special focus on its video and mobile value-added services.
Dialogic will also launch a number of training programs designed to teach developers and system integrators how to work with its signature its IP phone applications (such as its “Integrated Media Gateways” and “Media Processing Boards”), as well as its more advanced 3G- 324m- H.264-fueled mobile video products (such as its “Host Media” processing products and “Vision” family of servers and gateways).
The first educational program – a School of Video in Sao Paulo -- happens in October.
“Educating our new video ecosystem is key to successfully creating a ‘new’ community of developers and integrators that can guarantee superior video technology knowledge,” Punzo told TMCnet. “Brazil is one of the top ten economies in the world. The feeling is that there is support for what we do, which is 3G and 324 m technology.”
