Trends in Mobile Value-Added Services
Assignment Desk Editor
Mobile Value-Added Services like mobile video, ringback tones and others, are increasing in popularity in today's market and as a result, are providing operators with a way of increasing revenue within their subscriber base.
For a closer look at this move in the mobile industry, a free, hour-long TMC (News - Alert) Webinar, "Top Trends in Mobile Value-Added Services," hosted by NMS Communications, is being held tomorrow, Thursday, June 26, 2008 at 11:00am EST.
The Webinar will feature special guest presenter Brough Turner (News - Alert), CTO for NMS Communications. I had a chance recently to ask Brough some questions about the upcoming Webinar and about mobile value-added services. Here's what he had to say:
What are some of the topics to be addressed during this Webinar?
During this Webinar, I will speak to the top services and applications global operators are deploying to retain subscribers and to continue to deliver the high value services that subscribers want. Continued advances in wireless technology provide ample opportunities for operators to offer robust applications and leverage the power of these advancements. More countries (and operators) are expanding into 3G
Can you discuss some of the latest trends in mobile?
There has been lots of subscriber growth in less industrialized nations. One example is what’s happening in India. India’s Telecom market is experiencing explosive growth with month to month subscriber increases of 8 million per month with projections reaching 496 million mobile subscribers by 2010. There are now 7 telcos operating in India all looking to attract and retain these subscribers. All of this market opportunity is around getting and retaining voice traffic – just imagine when a 3G network is added. Likewise, the GSMA (News - Alert) reported this month that the number of mobile connections in Africa has risen 70 million in the past 12 months to 282 million. Mobile operators have ramped up investment in the region extending GSM
How is NMS providing support for the development of the latest mobile applications?
NMS Communications provides enabling technology and tools for the rapid development and deployment of value-added services on mobile and converged networks. Our products and tools are used globally by value added service suppliers and carriers as the foundation for a wide range of revenue-generating voice, video and data applications. Companies such as Avaya (News - Alert), Telefonica and Fujitsu are just some of the NMS customers that are fueling the growth of value-added services within all parts of the world. Interesting services such as video avatar-based messaging in Asia, and voice SMS services underway in India, are sample applications that NMS' products empower.
Why is this Webinar a must attend
If you are serious about the mobile and telecom value-added service space, this Webinar will review important market data and trends and will also discuss how operators and application suppliers outside of the western world are creating new and exciting services that engage and excite the ever fickle subscriber.
