Mitel (News - Alert), which sells communications software, has released version 3.2 of its Unified Communicator Advanced offering, which allows BlackBerry smartphone users to mobilize and gain access to Mitel UC features available through UC Advanced.
The BlackBerry (News - Alert) smartphone application, Mitel UC Advanced Mobile, is available for download on BlackBerry App World, company officials say.
UC Advanced is a software client that allows users "single-portal access to all collaboration tools, including deskphone, softphone, mobile devices, visual voice mail, secure instant messaging, presence, audio and web conferencing, desktop video conferencing, document sharing, and e-mail," according to company officials.
Amit Shankar, CIO at Granite Services International and a product user, says "these kinds of capabilities will help our employees stay connected with the office, improve their productivity, and ultimately increase our customer satisfaction."
UC Advanced Mobile, company officials say, provides access for BlackBerry smartphones users to corporate UC information and tools, "improving employee mobility and productivity." The application, they say, uses location based services -- GPS and Bluetooth -- "natively present in a BlackBerry smartphone to automatically update status information and call routing preferences."
