Quickoffice Inc. is well-known in mobile office productivity, with over 400 million installs on mobile devices to date. Today, it announced a new service called Connect, which allows seamless editing, creating, syncing and sharing of documents no matter what the operating system.
Connect allows users to access files via any device, including Android, iPhone (News - Alert), Mac, Windows PC and tablets, and gives access to these files via cloud-based services like Basecamp and Google Docs. Users gain access to their files and documents from virtually anywhere while maintaining the documents original format, such as those of Microsoft (News - Alert) Office.
One of the new features offered by Connect is in sharing. Users connect and share files via social networks and collaborate with peers and colleagues working on the same project. The Quickoffice Connect portal allows easy access to files and documents for simple collaboration among peers.
“In less than two years, we've witnessed the truly transformative power of the tablet, changing the way people interact with their digital content and easing the pain of trying to work while mobile,” Alan Masarek, CEO of Quickoffice Inc., said in a press release. “This shift challenged us to solve a fundamental need: enable users to work on one device and continue seamlessly to the next, within a single solution. Building on our 10 years of mobile experience, Connect enables people to follow their natural workflow while mobile, delivering the next generation of true mobile productivity."
To gain access to the Quickoffice Connect service, users must download a native application on their mobile device, tablet or computer. Alternatively, users can gain access to their files via the web interface. Connect features an automatic document syncing feature, so documents updated on one device automatically update on all devices.
The free version of Quickoffice Connect will be available shortly and allow the ability to share documents and up to five folders, cloud access, compatibility with up to two devices and a 5,000 file sync capacity. Connect Premium and Professional versions will be available for $44.99 and $69.99 per year, respectively. Paid (News - Alert) versions offer increased functionality, such as unlimited folder sharing and remote access.
