ITEXPO East 2012 Panel Explores Value in Mobile Unified Communications

By Susan J. Campbell, TMCnet Contributing Editor

The physical walls of the enterprise are slowly disappearing as technology continues to support the transition to enterprise mobility and mobile unified communications. Regardless of their physical location, employees still need to be able to connect with customers, colleagues, partners and prospects.

Mobile unified communications helps to support that connectivity on the go. To explore the concept further, D2 Technologies’ Doug Makishima (News - Alert) is speaking on the ITEXPO East 2012 panel, “Make your Smart Device Smarter on the Road.”

Makishima and other industry leaders will use this panel to explore the technologies now available to support employees working outside of the traditional office environment.

They’ll also explore new managed services that allow employees to take their corporate phone services with them on the road, providing access to functionality that makes them just as productive on the road as they are in the office, while also containing costs.

While focusing on the possibilities in mobile unified communications, this session will also explore the features and functionality necessary to make any employee device both mobile and productive. Such features can include a personal auto-attendant, unified messaging, softphones, simultaneous ring, Find Me/Follow Me and PBX (News - Alert) features.

Bringing industry experience to the panel, Makishima, COO and VP of Mobile and Personal Communications for D2, has more than 20 years of engineering and marketing experience in the communications and networking industry. Before stepping into his position at D2 in 2006, Makishima served as vice president of marketing at Intoto (News - Alert) and vice president of marketing for Hifn.

Makishima has also held senior management positions with Bay Networks, Nortel (News - Alert) Networks, Auspex, AMD and Adaptec. He also played a key role in Bay Networks/Nortel’s acquisition of WLAN startup Netwave Technologies. As an engineer, he developed patented storage IC technology.

In the mobile unified communications space, the demand continues to grow among companies searching for robust solutions to support a widespread workforce. Devices must be able to provide everything employees need while on the go, while also working seamlessly with the network and PBX, regardless of location.

Join Makishima and this respected panel of experts as they explore how the enterprise can make sure to get optimal value from their investments in smart and unified mobility.
