Mobile Unified Communications Gets Boost from D2 Technologies' mCUE

By Susan J. Campbell, TMCnet Contributing Editor

Converged mobile unified communications software continues to emerge, allowing users to leverage multiple communications services and modes. Software such as mCUE, which is designed for mobile devices like smartphones, tablet computers or netbooks, eBook readers, and personal navigation devices, sports a revolutionary interface allowing users access to a variety of communications services.

As captured in this d2tech report, mCUE on iOS for mobile unified communications supports video calling as well as instant messaging, and SMS over WiFi (News - Alert) and 3G. The IR.92 support includes XML configuration access protocol (XCAP), which allows the mobile unified communications solution to read, modify, and write data sorted in the XML format.

mCUE’s mobile unified communications solution also has a design for 4G, which supports IP multimedia system and session initiation protocol. It’s also designed for VoLTE, which is becoming the standard for telecommunications voice and messaging services.

mCUE offers a carrier grade voice engine to eliminate echo, while an adaptive jitter buffer monitors packet arrival times and adaptively controls buffer size to retain quality communication. Working along with the adaptive jitter buffer, the mobile unified communications feature also addresses the annoying packet loss with packet loss compensation technology, allowing users to achieve rich voice features with a modicum of impact on the overall CPU usage.

Dual tone multiple frequency (DTMF) generation/relay in the voice engine further enhances the mobile unified communications solution. The voice activated detection (VAD) application allows your device the ability to conserve bandwidth, which also saves on your device’s CPU usage. mCUE’s voice compression feature also saves on bandwidth by operating on 8kbps instead of 64 kbps. This is achieved through mCUE’s wideband coder/decoder.

The mobile unified communication solution from mCUE is complete and customizable with a total integration in the iOS framework. This allows push notifications at all times. Other integration features include complete integration with vPort MP VoIP engines. This platform combines with the communications user interface, which assists in providing integrated fix mobile convergence.

The vPort also supports video calls and high definition audio. vPort’s performance and efficiency has made it a leader in today’s market, allowing users to network, signal, and voice process with one processor. mCUE’s mobile unified communications solution provides integration with minimal effort, but retains its flexibility.

mCUE works in iOS 4.x and up, and supports background push notification. Furthermore, the icon and tabs show users their missed calls or IM/SMS, and the tabs are of the familiar iPhone (News - Alert) design.

As professionals continue to focus on mobility while on the job, the demand for unified communications supporting mobile access through mobile unified communications will continue to dominate new innovations in this space. The capabilities will continue to evolve and new market entrants will keep pricing competitive.
