Provider of fingerprint sensors, identity management software, and embedded security solutions, AuthenTec (News - Alert) announced the selection of its QuickSec VPN security by LG Electronics (News - Alert) for use in its Android smartphones.
AuthenTec’s QuickSec Client for Android has been designed to enhance secure VPN communication through an IPsec-based VPN client which is integrated into the smartphones, AuthenTec clarified in a press release.
In an effort to offer its customers secure communication through smartphones, LG has been looking for a VPN security solution for its Android (News - Alert) smartphones. Leveraging an IPsec-based VPN client, AuthenTec’s QuickSec Client supports secure VPN communication for Android.
According to LG’s corporate VP Ki S. Kim, AuthenTec’s solution fit the bill perfectly. The integration of AuthenTec solution will give LG customers more confidence in their communication through the smartphones, Kim claimed. “Our users can now be at ease knowing that connections to enterprise networks and data can be secured, helping them enhance their productivity even when they are on the go,” Kim noted in a statement.
“Our QuickSec Client for Android continues to gain wide adoption in new smartphones and tablet markets, and we are very pleased to be able to work with one of the world’s premier smartphone providers, LG Electronics by enhancing VPN security in its smartphones. QuickSec is just part of a larger mobile security portfolio that continues to see broad adoption and includes DRM content protection, smart fingerprint sensors, and identity management software/mobile apps,” Vice President of AuthenTec Embedded Security Solutions explained.
Sources at the company informed that there will be a demonstration of complete solution will be avaialble at the LG Solutions Partner Booth #835 at CTIA (News - Alert) Enterprise & Applications 2011 at San Diego Convention Center, San Diego, CA from October 11-13.
In a separate press release, AuthenTec announced partnership with BIO-key International, Inc, a provider of finger biometric identification technology and advanced mobile identification solutions. The companies are going to create mobile enterprise solutions that combine AuthenTec fingerprint sensors with BIO-key's Fingerprint Mobile Identification Devices and server-side fingerprint matching technology.
